Welcome To The An Nguyen Biography
He took lessons at the Hanoi Conservatory from 1981 to 1989 and during those same years performed all over Vietnam. But in 1989 he left his country - as part of a wave of boat-people - to take his chances, first in Hong Kong and then in Canada
In 1996, after establishing a new life in Toronto, Canada he continued his studies at the University of Western Ontario with composer and guitarist Alan Torok. And in 2000 he completed his studies in Prague, Czek Republik under the brilliant composer/guitarist Stepan Rak.
In the last several years The An Nguyen has been developing his career both in Canada and Vietnam. He has presented solo concerts in Vancouver and Toronto. He has made several tours of Vietnam, performing in the major cities under the sponsorship of the Canadian Embassy. He has performed as an honored guest at the 2002 First National Guitar Festival in Hanoi and Saigon. And in June 2003 he will return to Vietnam as a concerto soloist and composer to perform the Castelnuovo-Tedesco Concerto in D with the Vietnam National Orchestra and a selection of his own compositions.
